How did Danny feel about Anthony working with him?

That was addressed on Blue Bloods Season 7 Episode 7 when Anthony joined him temporarily to solve the murder of a witness in one of his cases.

Meanwhile on this hit drama series, Robert Lewis sought Frank's public support of an investigation by the attorney general.

Also, Jamie responded to an attempted-suicide call, but was it too much for him to handle?

15 TV Grandparents We Wish Had Been Ours!

Not all grandparents are created equal, especially on TV.

Where some grandparents offer words of wisdom and sage advice, others are there to tell it like it is and deliver the tough love.

Then there are those who share their love with their own special brand of sass.

Whether these folks are the perfect grandparents we never had or just amusingly dysfunctional, these Grams and Gramps all have one thing in common…

They all love their grandkids and are unendingly entertaining!

So let's take a look at the 15 TV grandparents we wish we had!

1. Martha Rodgers - Castle

Alexis new place
Who wouldn't want Martha Rodgers as their grandmother, or “Gram” as Alexis called her. She was fun and vivacious, yet loving and loyal. Martha was always ready with helpful, usually unsolicited advice (whether it was always the best advice was another story). She was also there with a big hug, a shopping spree (using her son's credit card), and a good party. Who doesn't love that?

2. Zeb and Esther Walton - The Waltons

Zeb and esther walton the waltons
The Waltons were unlike most TV families. They were poor and rural, and had live-in grandparents that everyone loved. Zeb and Ester passed on their wisdom and advice to all of the Walton children, and best of all, every member of the family appreciated their efforts. If we all could be so lucky to experience such love, dedication, and acceptance in real life.

3. Frank Reagan - Blue Bloods

Frank reagan blue bloods
Frank Reagan is a great father and the well respected NYPD Police Commissioner but he's also something else...an amazing grandfather. Frank is always there for his grandkids, whether it's offering sage advice to Nicky or keeping Danny's boys in line at the dinner table. The Reagan grandchildren are incredibly lucky to have such a smart and understanding grandpop.

4. Jay Pritchett - Modern Family

Jay pritchett modern family
Yes, Jay may have a gruff exterior, and he's all about the tough love, but he's also an amazing grandfather. Family means everything to Jay, perhaps even more as he gets older. And whether they're driving him crazy or not, he's always there for all his grandkids.

5. The Dowager Countess Violet Crawley - Downton Abbey

As dowager countess
“It’s the job of grandmothers to interfere.” We suppose it's hard to argue with that. The Dowager Countess delivered some of the most humours one-liners of any grandparent on TV. Her quips were so good that they even have their own mock Twitter account. It's easy to see where Lady Mary got her clever wit and sharpe tongue. It was from her grandmother, obviously!

6. Prince Charming and Snow White - Once Upon a Time

Mary margaret david and henry
Who else has actual fairy tale characters as their grandparents? Royal parents, no less? No one. Henry's life is never dull, mostly because his mom is the missing daughter of the most famous romantic couple from Enchanted Forest. Better yet, Henry gets sword fighting lessons from a real life prince and gets to be a true believer in actual fairy tales.

Blue Bloods Season 7 Episode 8 Review: Personal Business

What comes first: love, the job, or family? That was the question on Blue Bloods Season 7 Episode 8 and the answers differed depending upon who you asked.

Jamie and Eddie have kept their attraction at bay for quite a while now. They’re good friends and fantastic partners, so why take the chance on screwing that up?

Jamie and Eddie - Blue Bloods

Because the heart wants what the heart wants and it’s clear that these two want one another…

You're not even close to my type. I mean, you're a complete boy scout and you make me crazy most of the time. You're also the best person I think I've ever met and you're the best friend that I've ever had.

Eddie

I loved Eddie in this episode. First, she was right to say no to letting Tara stay with her. Letting a virtual stranger into your home can be dangerous, no matter how good the intentions and there was no predicting when or if Tara would leave on her own.

She's not a stray puppy, Jamie. This job is hard enough without taking it home with me, literally.

Eddie

Every time Eddie called Jamie “awesome” I couldn’t help but laugh. She hit just the right notes of amusement, sarcasm, and jealousy.

And to her credit, she admitted to the jealousy and its underlying cause. Being honest about how she felt took a huge amount of courage. I couldn’t believe that Jamie didn’t kiss her!

No matter whether they act on them or not, knowing that they have these feelings for one another probably means they shouldn’t be partners, so this is going to get weird and difficult no matter what they choose.

But I completely understand why Eddie kissed him before she left. If you’re going to lay your heart bare, you might as well go all in before leaving the ball in his court.

First Kiss - Blue Bloods Season 7 Episode 8

Elsewhere, Frank dealt with Sgt. James Reed in a case that bugged me to no end.

Yes, every NYPD officer takes an oath to protect and serve, even while off duty. But the man had his 10-year-old daughter with him. Announcing himself as a police officer most likely would have sent bullets flying.

That hallway may have been only ten feet away but his child could have frozen or screamed. Moving from that spot in that moment put her life in danger.

What other job expects you to risk your child’s life in order to do your duty? The only upside was that the story gave us one of the best Blue Bloods quotes of all time…

Frank: I can't speak for myself.
Erin: Hell just froze over.

Then there was the case of Emily Harrison.

I could understand Liza viewing Emily as the crazy ex-girlfriend and not believing her at first, but when two detectives tell you the guy you are dating is a rapist and show you photos and you still choose to go back to him then, as Danny said…

If she wants to see this dirt bag there's nothing you or us can do about it. It's her choice.

Danny

Emily probably hasn’t been in her right mind since the rape occurred and going to Brandon’s home, with or without the gun, wasn’t a sound decision. Considering all of the circumstances, this was a case I wouldn’t have minded seeing go to trial, mostly because I’m curious to see how a jury would decide on it.

I was relieved when Frank pointed out to Erin that she could do something about Emily’s shoddy defense, I just didn’t understand why Erin didn’t come to that conclusion on her own. As Erin herself eventually pointed out, sometimes there’s a difference between the law and justice.

Should a sergeant have intervened in a robbery if he was off duty?

That was addressed on Blue Bloods Season 7 Episode 8 when Frank had to deal with the repercussions of one not helping out.

Meanwhile on this CBS crime solver, Jamie's generous actions stirred up some feelings of jealousy in Eddie, but was it enough to cause an argument?

Blue Bloods Season 7 Episode 9 Review: Confessions

$

It felt like everyone had confessions to make on Blue Bloods Season 7 Episode 9, and they all had their consequences.

The latent romance between Jamie and Eddie continued to be an issue between them, and it’s obvious that they’re going to have to come to some sort of decision sooner rather than later.

Wedding Guests - Blue Bloods

Perhaps attending a wedding together wasn’t the best way to stick to being just partners, because a few drinks and a fancy dress seemed to heighten all of the feelings that Jamie has been trying to suppress.

There’s no doubt that Jamie was the one who started that fight. He was surly throughout the wedding, but was it because he felt he had to keep his hands off his partner, or was it because another man wanted his hands on her?

Even when the guy grabbed Eddie on the dance floor, it didn’t appear as though she couldn’t handle the situation. I saw no reason for Jamie to feel he had to run to her rescue. Instead of dealing with his feelings, Jamie tried to bury them and in turn ruined a friend’s wedding, leaving several hundred dollars of cake all over the floor.

But it was Jamie’s invitation at the end that confused me.

As much as I loved the final scene of their dancing, and especially how Eddie poked fun at him for the venue…

Eddie: This place?
Jamie: What?
Eddie: Jamie, people are dancing here. You don't like dancing.

The way she said that line made me laugh. Eddie is so good at chiding Jamie in the most playfully sarcastic way…but back to the dancing, and the conversation with this Blue Bloods quote

Eddie: Do you ever think about what we might be missing out on?
Jamie: Yup. Do you ever think what we might be giving up?
Eddie: Yup.

He asks Eddie to get all dressed up and takes her out to dance but he doesn’t kiss her?!? I’m guessing he meant this pseudo-date as some sort of apology for his behavior at the wedding, but come on! How can he slow dance with her, talk about their potential relationship and still not kiss her?

All I can say is that this better be leading to an amazing culmination of their story, or I’ll be horribly disappointed.

Now that I’ve gotten the budding love story out of our way, on with the rest of the drama.

When Father Phil came to Frank, but refused to tell him where to find the missing 15-year-old, I kept wondering why he showed up at all. I understand that he took a sacred oath, but wasn’t telling Frank even what little he did considered breaking it?

Henry thought it was shameful of Frank to ask the priest to break his oath to save a life, and as much as I appreciated Henry’s feelings on the subject (I’d really never thought of the confessional as a burden until he put it quite that way), I thought it would have been shameful if Frank didn’t do everything humanly possible to find that kid.

I found Frank’s conversation with the ArchBishop very interesting. First, why does the church have surveillance video? Second, would it be perceived differently if a mosque or a temple were being asked to turn over their video, even though they are all religious entities and should be viewed as equals under the law.

Finally, was the Arch Bishop assuming that this was about terrorism, or about finding a pedophile in his parish? As Frank himself said, oh the times we live in.

A Secret Life - Blue Bloods Season 7 Episode 9

Elsewhere, Danny and Baez’s investigation into Lindsay’s murder took some unexpected turns.

I swear, no matter how many years I spend in this city, it's always got another crazy surprise up its sleeve.

Baez

So, Lindsay had two cell phones because she was working as a high-priced call girl for kicks and Gordon wanted to buy her services exclusively for $100,000.

When Gordon’s attorney was asking for discretion because Gordon was happily married, I had to laugh. I think mine and the attorney’s definitions of “happily married” vary greatly.

And as Baez put it so succinctly…

Baez: If your client didn't want his wife to know he was a creep, then he shouldn't have been such a creep.
Danny: You can't really argue with that.

As interesting as the twists in the case were, I had the husband pegged as the murderer from the moment we met him. He was too quick to hand over Lindsay’s cell phone, like he had something to hide, and who calls the police because their wife is half an hour late for dinner?

Of course the highlight of the hour was the Reagan family dinner, where we found out that everyone in the family has done some sort of time in the slammer, whether it be a few hours in holding or time in the brig. But my favorite was when Erin realized that her father had let her spend a night in lockup in Asbury Park, NJ as a teenager.

Frank Reagan has always believed in a healthy dose of tough love. Considering the family he has around that dinner table, it’s obviously worked out well for him.

CBS Midseason Schedule: When Will Training Day, Ransom & Doubt Premiere?

CBS has finally announced its midseason schedule.

Yes, we know, they're a bit late to the party, but at least we finally have some solid information about when the new shows will hit the air.

The most shocking thing about the schedule is that Ransom will move to Saturdays after just one episode. Why? Because CBS is hoping to capitalize on the lack of ratings on Saturday nights with a relatively low-cost acquisition. The show looks good, too!

Doubt 1x01

Highly anticipated series, Training Day, will cap off Thursday nights on CBS when Pure Genius ends its run.

Doubt will step in on Wednesday nights when Code Black concludes for its season or series.

Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders and Superior Donuts will be scheduled at a later date.

Blue Bloods Season 7 Episode 10 Review: Unbearable Loss

It isn’t often that TV shows make me cry, but with Blue Bloods Season 7 Episode 10, I did just that.

Watching Reverend Potter’s 15-year-old son lying dead in the dirt was more than heartbreaking, it was tragic.

Reverend Potter's Son - Blue Bloods

If Potter’s own tirade of grief at the scene wasn’t sad enough, his wife’s sobs made clear just how devastating a loss this was.

So Potter’s desperation to find his son’s killer was far from shocking.

The man who was normally willing to prosecute the police for bending the rules suddenly seemed more than ready to break them.

For once it was completely understandable.

Reverend Potter: If you run into the police…
Michael: Be polite but know your rights.

It was good advice, unfortunately for Michael, what he ran into was a gang initiation.

His death was random, stupid, and senseless but what it took to solve it was solid police work by Danny and Baez.

It was a horrible irony that the man who ran the gang was once a boy that Potter had tried to help with his outreach program.

Having Frank share that a crooked cop killed his son, Joe, hopefully bridged a bit of that divide between Potter and the Reagans.

As Potter himself said, the police can’t do their jobs without help from the community and the community can’t stay safe without the help of the police.

Somehow, these two opposing sides need to find a way to come together for the greater good.

Frank Reagan at the Door - Blue Bloods Season 7 Episode 10

But it was the Blue Bloods quote that Frank chose for Michael’s funeral that had the tears welling up, much as they did for both Frank and Henry…

That even in our sleep, pain that cannot forget falls drop by drop on the heart, and in our own despair, against our will, comes wisdom to us by the awful grace of God.

Frank

I do love that this show never forgets that the Reagans are Catholic and that it continues to show up during their stories.

Elsewhere, Jamie shot a mugger with a knife.

I couldn’t find one tear for the guy, even if the event did plague Jamie.

A Prison Van Crash - Blue Bloods Season 7 Episode 10

He easily could have hurt or killed someone with that knife.

Being the son of a cop meant that he should know the consequences of those actions better than most.

I could understand Jamie’s reluctance to talk to the father, as he had no idea what he would be facing.

My first C.O. once told me that if there's a conversation you've been avoiding, then that's the one you need to have.

Henry

What I never expected was for the Captain to apologize to Jamie, even if the circumstances warranted it.

Finally, Erin prosecuted the owner of a private prison van service.

Kudos to Bruce McGill who played the stand up detective Vince Korsak on Rizzoli & Isles but went all in here as the sleazy Rick Wolf.

I hated his Southern smarm instantly.

BB7x10

I did end up wishing they would have spent a little more time on this case.

I found myself wanting to know the differences between government run and privately run prisoner transports

But with the Reverend Potter’s storyline taking the lead in this episode, there just wasn’t time to spare.

Despite that one flaw, this emotionally raw installment turned out to be one of my favorite episodes so far of Blue Bloods Season 7.

If you need more of the Reagan family, you can watch Blue Bloods online here at TV Fanatic.

Blue Bloods Season 7 Episode 11 Review: Genetics

Who cheats on a psychological evaluation and is that the person you want as a police officer?

That was just one of the many questions that had to be answered on Blue Bloods Season 7 Episode 11.

When I first heard that cadets at the police academy had cheated on their psych eval, the answer seemed pretty clear; they should be kicked out, but things quickly got more complicated.

Investigating Cadets - Blue Bloods

All of the recruits being military veterans really didn’t change my mind at first. Cheating is wrong and if they’re willing to bend or break the rules now, what kind of judgement will they have once they’re given a badge and a gun?

If you’re starting off on the wrong foot, where do you end up?

I also had no sympathy for Sgt. Vega, the Recruit Discipline Officer. If he knew there was a problem with the exam, he should have made sure that everyone from his immediate superior up to the police commissioner knew about it too.

Feeding the cadets the “right” answers or looking the other way while they cheated was wrong. In my opinion, he’s lucky he wasn’t fired.

I was glad to see Frank take the test himself. His military and police backgrounds gave him a unique perspective…

Garrett: So the recruits were in a tough spot.
Frank: Relatively speaking.
Garrett: Relative to what?
Frank: Being under fire in 120 degree heat in the middle of the desert is a tough spot, taking a test in an air conditioned classroom, not so much.

Giving everyone a mulligan at the end was generous but fair given the circumstances, although I had to wonder how Frank’s secret meeting could be kept secret if he was doing the psych evaluations himself.

Elsewhere, Jack blindsided Linda by telling her that he planned to join the Marines. I don’t think any mother takes that news well, and Linda was no exception.

Danny: I will talk to him, man to man, father to son, and I will figure out where his head is.
Linda: You better get on the right side here, Danny.

For once, I thought Danny was the person with the calm, reasonable, common sense approach.

Jack was going to make this decision on his own and fighting him on it would only have him enlisting just to rebel against his parents. Instead, Danny tried to get him to see all sides.

Reagan Family Dinner - Blue Bloods Season 7 Episode 7

In this Blue Bloods quote, Frank reminded everyone how rare it is for people to truly think about what it means to serve something other than themselves…

Jack, the fact that you even considered the Core says something. It means you're thinking about what can I do for my country, not just what I can do for me.

Frank

Jamie and Erin’s storylines intersected with a messy adoption case.

Despite Erin’s warnings about Jamie overstepping his role as a police officer, I thought that trying to help was the right thing to do. The only fault I found was that neither Jamie nor Erin seemed to ask the right questions.

Why didn’t anyone ask the Reddings why they put Kyle up for adoption in the first place, why they felt they didn’t understand the paperwork they signed and what had changed since then?

It felt as though both sides were so panicked and emotional that they couldn’t recognize the other’s point of view.

The entire case felt a little convoluted. Gwen apparently settle for a sham of a marriage in order to have a child, and we never really got the Redding's story at all.

In the end, we can only hope that Gwen and Carla and John Redding come up with some sort of a compromise. A child deserves to have as many people in his life that love him as possible, not have them tear each other apart.

A Secret Meeting - Blue Bloods Season 7 Episode 11

Did you think that Jack would enlist? Will the Reagan family legacy of service continue with the next generation and if so, how?

And did Frank do the right thing for the new recruits who had cheated?

Did Erin manage to help Jamie and Eddie?

That was her plan on Blue Bloods Season 7 Episode 11 when the pair wanted a tricky adoption case to stay out of court, but there were a lot of hurdles they would need to go through to prevent it.

Sometimes the best of intentions don’t get you far, and Danny’s decision to help protect an ex-con and find the real killer ended with tragic results.

First off, I was thrilled to see Omar J. Dorsey guest starring as Ernie “Goodnight” Mason. I became a big fan of his after watching him as Hollywood on Queen Sugar this fall, and he didn’t disappoint here on Blue Bloods Season 7 Episode 12.

Danny Plays Bodyguard - Blue Bloods

Ernie: You always said if there was ever anything you could do for me when I get out…
Danny: That's something I say a lot. That's not actually something I mean when I say it.

But the truth was that Danny did mean it. He wanted to help Ernie because he always believed in his innocence, even as the man himself agreed to take the fall for a crime he didn't commit.

Was $100,000 enough payment to lose 12 years of his life and the chance to be a father to his son?

No. Ernie lost everything and then Dewan decided to kill him rather than pay him the money.

I didn’t blame Ernie for deciding to hit the road. Why stick around when his own son wanted nothing to do with him and the woman he had loved was involved with the man who was trying to kill him.

How the hell do you call this a safe house? The roaches are big enough to mug somebody.

Ernie

Not only were the roaches huge but they had no problem running around in broad daylight. I wondered if Ernie’s boot was tough enough to kill them.

Danny was relieved when Ernie came back to try and trap Dewan and I thought planting a listening device somewhere on the table was a good plan.

But the moment Dewan told Ernie to use the back door, I knew things were about to go horribly wrong. I kept hoping that Danny had someone posted back there, but that didn’t happen.

Omar J Dorsey Guest Stars - Blue Bloods Season 7 Episode 12

Watching Ernie get his throat slit hurt because I had been rooting for him.

He was on the verge of getting his life back. He was looking forward to having dinner with his son. He even agreed to do the right thing and work with the police take Dewan down.

Then it was just over. Talk about a waste.

Over at One Police Plaza, Sheila Gormley visited Frank to tell him that Sid was dissatisfied with work and I realized from the start that this had to be her feelings and not Sid’s.

Did anyone think that Sid Gormley would want to be the face of the department? The man is a street cop at heart. The last place he wants to be is in front of a camera.

I also didn’t believe for a minute that Sid thought that Frank didn’t respect him. The whole reason why Sid is working at 1PP is that Frank wants to hear his perspective.

So when Sid dragged Sheila in to confess that this was all her idea, it wasn’t a surprise.

No wonder their marriage had been on the rocks not so long ago.

Out on the street, Eddie and Jamie had to break up a fight between Paul and Casey, two other officers who were partners at work and romantically involved off the clock.

I have to ask, were Paul and Casey that stupid that they couldn’t wait for that fight until they got home? They had to have it in uniform, on the street, while being recorded on half a dozen cell phones?

Then the two of them got defensive with Eddie and Jamie when they tried to help and Paul and Casey really did sound as though they were in junior high…

I'm not in sixth grade and neither are you; but you're putting your life and the life of your partner in danger taking your eye off the ball like that.

Jamie

Speaking of taking your eye off the ball, did anyone else catch the continuity error when Jamie and Eddie started a scene driving a Ford NYPD cruiser and ended it driving a Chevy?

I loved the way Jamie and Eddie handled the guy in the pizza place because they were so in sync. They make great partners on the street.

Should they take that partnership further? Yes, I think it’s inevitable, but as Eddie pointed out, once they do, there is no going back.

Finally we got to Frank’s birthday and Baker’s Blue Bloods quote of the night…

Let's put it this another way, if people want to show affection for you, how do you want to avoid dealing with it?

Baker

Some people just aren’t very good with birthdays or being the center of attention. It makes them uncomfortable for any number of reasons.

Frank’s reasons had to do with feeling abandoned by his friends when he was 9 years old.

As a NY Rangers fan, I was both thrilled and envious of Frank’s decision to surprise the entire family with tickets to a Rangers game for his birthday.

The only downside to the game was that it cut our Reagan family dinner short, which is generally the highlight of every episode.

Who had a big request for Frank?

That was addressed on Blue Bloods Season 7 Episode 12 when he got an odd request from someone from the past.

Meanwhile on this addictive drama series, Danny searched for the real criminal when he realized enough was enough after learning someone was covering for the real criminal and was sent to jail in his place.

Also, Jamie and Eddie grew reflective when they observed a lovers' spat.

Blue Bloods Season 7 Episode 13 Review: The One That Got Away

My favorite dynamic duo was back in the thick of things on Blue Bloods Season 7 Episode 13

Well, sort of…

A Robbery - Blue Bloods

Jamie and Eddie went on one of the strangest double dates in history and it ended up with their dates cowering under a table.

First off, the only reason Josh asked Jamie to join them for dinner was so that he could get a better read on Eddie’s relationship with her partner. If Eddie’s partner had been a woman, I highly doubt he would have had her tag along.

But Josh got a lot more than he could handle when he saw Eddie in action...

Chicks, we're not suppose to be the heroes, we're suppose to be the damsels in distress waiting to be rescued by guys like you, not the ones doing the rescuing.

Eddie

The stereotype really was stomach turning. Eddie's great at her job. She and her partner helped save a room full of civilians from two armed junkies.

She was a hero! If she had been a man, there would have been high fives and fist bumps going around, but as Eddie pointed out in the Blue Bloods quote

I don't have a penis, so when I take out two armed perps, it's an assault on my date's manhood.

Eddie

Which was just pathetic…and probably all too close to reality.

Eddie deserves someone that admires and respects how bad ass she is at her job, and Josh certainly wasn’t that guy.

No great loss. I didn’t like the hipster beard anyway.

As much as I appreciated Jamie’s attempt to lift her spirits, I liked Eddie's response even more…

We can't keep being each other's consolation prize, Jamie.

Eddie

These two are at a stand still, one I had hoped that this episode would break.

They’re not happy dating anyone else, but they’re too scared to take a chance on a personal relationship with one another for fear of ending their partnership.

At some point, somethings got to give, I’m just wondering if they’re going to make us wait until the end of Blue Bloods season 7 for that to happen.

Elsewhere, Danny and Baez caught a child abuse case…but first they admired the Statue of Liberty.

For anyone who hasn’t seen it, she is an awesome sight, and I always love to be reminded that this show is actually filmed in New York City.

The entire case was less about the man who was beating his 9-year-old son with a baseball bat and more about how to get around diplomatic immunity.

Well I’d like to beat the crap out of you, but guess what, sometimes we don’t always get what we want, do we?

Danny

For once, I really felt Danny’s rage and I appreciated that he and Frank were both putting up a good fight to save this boy.

Sharon Lawrence Guest Stars - Blue Bloods Season 7 Episode 13

As great as it was to see Sharon Lawrence as Deputy Secretary of State Christine Saunders, her character came off as rather one note.

She never once explained that the reason we have diplomatic immunity is so our own diplomats can’t be charged with breaking laws in other countries, laws that Americans might find inconceivable.

Diplomatic immunity should not be a free pass for brutality.

Sid

At the same time, I can only imagine that a U.S. family court taking away a diplomat's child would also cause quite an international incident.

As for the wife shooting her husband on a public street, I’m not sure if that really helps her situation.

Even if she got her son back, would the U.S. allow her to stay after she killed her husband? Wouldn’t she be charged with his murder when she went back to Morocco?

But those are questions for which we didn’t get answers.

Finally, there was Joe’s former girlfriend, Angela.

When she invited Frank and the entire family to the wedding and then said it was the following week, I was a little perplexed.

Most weddings take months if not a year or more to plan. Head counts, seating charts and budgets are agonized over.

Nicky and Erin - Blue Bloods Season 7 Episode 13

I found it odd that she would invite that many people to the affair at the last minute. The only thing that made sense to me was that she agonized over the decision because she thought it might be awkward having her late boyfriend's family there.

But I did like Danny and Frank’s take on it. Were they being played so that Steve could further his career?

Thankfully, that didn’t seem to be the case, but some people are more prone to suspicion of motives than others and I would guess a family of cops would fall into that category.

Looks like next week’s episode is a repeat, but if you can’t wait for more of the Reagan family, you can watch Blue Bloods online here at TV Fanatic.

Did a robbery bring Eddie and Jamie closer together?

That was addressed on Blue Bloods Season 7 Episode 13 when the pair dealt with a robbery while they were off duty, but did they get in trouble?

Meanwhile on this hit drama series, a child-abuse case got complicated because of an individual's diplomatic immunity, so Frank got involved.

More issues showed up when it emerged that Frank did not have jurisdiction.

Blue Bloods Season 7 Episode 14 Review: In & Out

With so many murders, and a truly horrifying deal being considered, there were some very serious storylines on Blue Bloods Season 7 Episode 14.

The Gang Leader's Murder - Blue Bloods

But first we need to address something far more fun…

The awesomeness of Jamie and Eddie in this Blue Bloods quote

Jamie: We've been riding together for three years and I'm just finding out about this now.
Eddie: Because I knew you'd freak out.
Jamie: There are some things that just aren't right, Eddie, and this is one of them.
Eddie: My grandparents lived in Philly and we used to go to the games.
Jamie: Seriously, the Flyers! You're not even allowed to mention that name in my father’s house.
Eddie: Don't you think you're overreacting a little bit?
Jamie: No.

I can only hope that the rest of the viewing audience got even half the enjoyment that I did out of their argument over a rival hockey team.

Because if you are a New York Rangers fan, as the Reagans have stated they are, then you really do look upon Philadelphia Flyers fans with unhidden disdain.

It didn’t surprise me at all that Eddie would hide that she’s a Flyers fan from Jamie for three years. His reaction was spot on and it made me laugh.

That scene was yet another small moment that reminded me why I love that this show is actually filmed in New York City.

Oh, and did anyone else notice that Eddie picked the sliced tomatoes off of her plate at lunch and put them on Jamie’s while in mid-conversation.

They may not be romantically involved, yet, but they certainly have many of the idiosyncrasies of a long-term couple.

Now, on to the far less fun but certainly more dramatic parts of this episode.

There were few things about Danny and Baez’s investigation into the murder of rival gang leaders that were unexpected…

Except for the parole officer sleeping with the gang’s hired killer! Now that was a twist I didn’t see coming.

I was a little startled by how much Baez pushed back on Danny investigating Ramirez.

Yes, Ramirez had a clean record for the 13 years she was on the job but if an eye witness actually saw Ronald Lloyd do the shooting, and Ramirez claimed he was at their meeting, there was a problem somewhere.

As Ramirez later pointed out herself, they could have easily checked out the video surveillance to see if Lloyd had actually arrived for that meeting, although taking photos of her kissing her parolee was far more damaging.

The moment Ramirez stepped into Lloyd’s apartment I knew she was dead. Blue Bloods needs to stop killing off the people who try to get confessions recorded for the police…

I’m thinking of Ernie “Goodnight” Mason who was killed just a couple of episodes ago. Danny really needs to do a better job of protecting his informants!

Finally we get to Frank…

Gormley: Guys like Don Kent don't come along every day.
Frank: And in Don's case they get assassinated for it.

I couldn’t believe that Frank was really considering letting Mario Hunt out of prison, for any reason!

This was the man who actually pulled the trigger on Chief Kent and his wife, and then made a deal and turned over the gang leader who ordered the hit in order to get a light sentence.

Did anyone believe that Hunt would keep his word? Maybe he’d stop the killings today but what about next month and the month after that. He wasn’t going to suddenly become a good guy just because he was let out of jail early.

I kept thinking that if Frank could pull strings to get him released, why not pull those same strings to get this guy sent to some super max facility where he could no longer contact his fellow gang members.

But Frank Reagan took that idea one step further.

Mario Hunt - Blue Bloods Season 7 Episode 14

He threatened to send Hunt to a prison in Atlanta that is overrun by members of the rival gang.

Is a cop supposed to, effectively, send a convict off to be murdered by rival gang members?

No.

But he’s also not supposed to let convicted killers walk free because they threaten more lives.

In the end, I was okay with how this one worked out.

Did a parole officer cover up a murder?

That was addressed on Blue Bloods Season 7 Episode 14 when it became clear the officer could have been in a relationship with an ex-con.

The team seemed to think the officer helped hide the details of a murder.

Meanwhile on this hit drama series, Frank tried to halt further violence.

Did he succeed?

There are the lawyers that do good – Jack McCoy, Marshall Eriksen, Sandy Cohen.

Then there are the lawyers that look good – Jessica Pearson, Olivia Pope, Harvey Specter.

Finally there are the lawyers that make you question the entire legal profession – wait, actually that's most of them. We don't have the time or space to make that list right now.

Love them or hate them, lawyers serve a vital purpose in our litigious society.

They fight for the wrongly accused; prosecute dangerous criminals; educate and shape young minds; and all in all try to make this world a better place.

There are bound to be lawyers I forgot, so don't hesitate to add your favorites in the comments.

And remember to watch The Good Fight on CBS All Access, Sunday, February 19, 2017 at 8:00 PM ET.

Now without further ado...

1. Will Gardner - The Good Wife

Josh charles as will gardner the good wife
Will Gardner, played by Josh Charles, was a ladies man and a cunning attorney. We got to see his romantic side through his relationship with Alicia and his loyal and supportive side through his friendship with Diane. He was flawed, but an all around good person. The Good Wife season 5 episode 15 will go down as one of the most shocking, heart breaking episodes in series history.

2. Annalise Keating - How to Get Away with Murder

Annalise keating
Portrayed by SAG and Emmy award winning actress Viola Davis, Annalise is a passionate attorney with a troubled past and present. She fights vigorously for her clients but also ends up on the wrong side of the court room from time to time. She has complicated relationships with everyone in her life and though she tries to be a good person she is usually unsuccessful.

3. Barry Zuckerkorn - Arrested Development

Barry zuckerkorn
Arrested Development was just renewed for Season 5, and I'm seriously hoping we see Henry Winkler's character again. In later seasons he may have been fired and replaced by Bob Boblaw, who was equally incompetant, but the Bluth's need someone who knows their true crazy and still defends them vigorously. Or at least tries to. Sometimes. Even if he has no idea what he's doing.

4. Jackie Chiles - Seinfeld

Jackie chiles
Everyone knows Jackie Chiles, portrayed hilariously by Phil Morris, was based on Johnnie Cochran. They both wear glasses, have mustaches, and are well-dressed with a penchant for grandiose vocabulary. Jackie Chiles was initially brought on to represent Kramer but he ended up playing a crucial role in the series finale thanks to the gang's "lewd, lascivious, salacious, outrageous" behavior.

5. Erin Reagan - Blue Bloods

Erin reagan
Erin Reagan, played by Bridget Moynahan, is the daughter of police commissioner Frank Reagan, a New York County Assistant District Attorney and a single mother. She's dealt with shootings inside courtrooms, hostage situations, and physical assualts but she remains strong. An avid gun owner with a preference for glocks, she is the best shot in the Reagan family.

6. Jack McCoy - Law & Order

Jack mccoy
Sam Waterson played Jack McCoy from 1994 - 2010. He started out as the Executive Assistant District Attorney before becoming the New York County District Attorney. Jack had a difficult childhood which no doubt affects his adult relatiomnships. He's been divorced twice, has a strained relationship with his daughter and tends to have inappropriate relationships with his subordinates. When it comes to law, he's willing to bend the rules a little if it means justice will be served.

Is there ever a justification for murder?

That was the question with which Danny and Baez were grappling on Blue Bloods Season 7 Episode 15

Is He a Murderer? - Blue Bloods Season 7 Episode 15

No one liked Lee Butowsky. Not his ex-wife, not his son, certainly not his coworkers as explained in this Blue Bloods quote

Manager: Nobody here would bother to waste a word on the guy, let alone a bullet.
Baez: It was a knife.
Manager: Whatever.

But the person who would certainly want Lee Butowsky dead was the man whose wife and son where killed by Lee who was driving drunk.

Then to add insult to injury, Lee’s high priced attorney was able to get him cleared of all charges.

Who wouldn’t want to kill the guy?

Baez was more than willing to let the case drop, but it was Danny who persisted, not because he liked Lee but because that was the job.

In his own way, Danny respects the job, but even he wasn’t necessarily pushing as hard as he normally does to bring a killer to justice, and Erin noticed…

You huff and puff all over the place and I wave my finger around and preach about the proper procedure in the criminal justice system. That's what we do. That's our thing.

Erin

It’s funny because it’s true. Erin and Danny do that same dance for almost every case.

They never made it clear if the attorney who represented Butowsky was taking this case for free, because if he’s really that good, I can’t imagine he comes cheap.

The Drunk Driver Murder - Blue Bloods

Erin also had her hands full with Anthony and his old friend Jimmy.

Erin was quick to think the worst of Anthony. First she seemed to think he was somehow involved in Jimmy’s shenanigans, and then she wouldn’t even let him explain why he disconnected the wire.

Erin has worked with Anthony for quite a while now. Doesn’t that earn him the benefit of the doubt, or at least the chance to explain himself before she verbally tears him to shreds?

When she grudgingly agreed that Anthony’s plan was solid, it seemed that Anthony knew that was as good as he was going to get…

Your flattery humbles me, your Grace.

Anthony

Elsewhere, one of Joe’s courtesy cards brought Jamie’s career aspirations to the forefront.

We all know that Frank never wants to give his kids any special treatment, but how was helping Jessie an issue?

It’s not like he was helping Joe, he’s dead. Would it have been so wrong to make sure that Joe’s former colleague got the assistance he needed?

It felt as though Frank was being unnecessarily difficult, where as Jamie saw someone in need of help and not only offered a hand, but did it on his own time.

There are too few people willing to do that.

I did appreciate that Frank called in Garrett and Sid to ask their honest opinion about Jamie, and it was amusing that they both immediately thought that this sit down was to talk about Danny.

Was Frank simply trying to push for a balanced assessment of Jamie, or did he sound as though he felt that the reason Jamie was still a beat cop was because of something Jamie himself was lacking?

I’m simply not sure, but I liked that Garrett eventually told Frank exactly what he believed to be true…

There are bosses on this job, who are very interested in Jamie, and who wouldn’t be? They want to tap him for special assignments, even promotions, but they're afraid in doing so they will ruffle your feathers.

Garrett

As much as Frank and Garrett argue, this kind of honestly is exactly why Frank needs Garret on his team.

Jamie has previously said that he has no interest in moving up to detective, but even fans of the show have wondered why he’s remained a beat cop for so long.

Jamie: I'm excited every single shift. How many people can say that?
Frank: A lucky few.

Perhaps Jamie really is the smartest Reagan. He’s figured out that true happiness comes from doing the job you love, not from a title, a better salary, or from living up to what other people expect.

Now if he could just get his love life figured out, he’d be in really good shape.

Right Where He Wants To Be - Blue Bloods Season 7 Episode 15

As usual, the Reagan family dinner was the place to be. Everyone was hungry but no one wanted to get stuck with saying grace. It was a silly argument but realistic and great fun.

Did Erin go too far?

That was addressed on Blue Bloods Season 7 Episode 15 when she asked Anthony to wear a wire?

How so?

Anthony worried because the man she wanted to arrest was a really good friend, but he had mob connections.

Meanwhile on this hit drama series, the team were shocked when a man was murdered 10 years after murdering a mother and son.

Was there a connection to that case from 10 years ago?
