Blue Bloods Season 6 Episode 20 Review: Down the Rabbit Hole

Serial killer Thomas Wilder came out of hiding to add to his body count and taunt Danny on Blue Bloods Season 6 Episode 20.

This time he did so by making things personal for the entire Reagan family.

Things Get Personal - Blue Bloods

Wilder was up to 22 victims as nine more were found on Long Island and FBI Behavioral Analyst Adam Parker wasn’t wrong when he pointed out that Wilder wasn’t the only one walking close to the edge.

What annoyed me the most about Danny was how dismissive he was about Parker’s advice. Why does Danny always think he has all the answers? Getting inside a killer’s head to figure out his next move sounds far more effective than taunting him until he targets your own family.

I couldn’t believe that Danny wouldn’t have a protection detail already on his wife and kids or that he didn’t send patrol cars there when he thought Wilder was going after them. I know it made for better dramatic effect but the drive out to Staten Island is not quick, even with lights and sirens.

Frank was furious when the FBI released one victim’s name to the press but how was no one except Parker upset when Danny called the killer names on the front page of the Daily News?

The case led to the entire family talking serial killers over Sunday dinner until the topic was changed to Nicky’s new boyfriend. it was one of the first times I really did feel for Nicky. She’s 19! She’s supposed to be dating and it was nice that at least Frank was willing to cut her a break in this Blue Bloods quote

You know, my granddaughter's growing up. She's almost an adult so I'm just gonna butt out.

Frank

But the look on Erin’s face said that she wasn’t happy that Frank was taking this opportunity not to offer his advice.

I found it interesting when Frank shared that his wife almost didn’t marry him because she feared becoming a widow because of his dangerous job. Talk about irony. In the end, she died of cancer, leaving Frank behind.

As for Nicky, it appeared that just being a part of the Reagan family was dangerous enough.

The ending of Thomas Wilder felt anti-climatic. That he chose not to kill Nicky after murdering all of those women felt contrived, not that I wanted to see Nicky dead.

Yes, he taunted Danny until the end but why not keep running and killing? I know Parker touched on this a bit earlier but I wish they would have explained it in more depth because this ending felt more forced than satisfying.

Despite the way it ended, Wilder's cat and mouse with Danny was still powerful enough to completely overshadow Erin’s uncovering a mobster’s past for the Irish Commissioner. I wish they would have saved that storyline for another episode when they could have given it more time.

Will the effects of Thomas Wilder be forgotten or will they continue to be felt throughout the Reagan family, especially by Danny, Nicky, and Erin? I hope the after effects aren’t dropped for any of them. I can’t imagine Nicky not being traumatized by this incident and even super cop Danny Reagan must have his breaking point. Will the memory of Thomas Wilder be it?

It felt like everyone was playing chess on Blue Bloods Season 6 Episode 21, except for Jamie who was MIA up until the family dinner.

But Erin, Frank, and Danny were all maneuvering people around their own personal chess boards as they tried to win the game.

Starting with Erin, who annoyed the heck out of me for most of this episode.

A Fearful Witness - Blue Bloods

I understand that she takes her job seriously and that putting killers behind bars is important work, but is it worth destroying an innocent man’s life in the process.

Erin kept insisting to Willis that Witness Protection was a good deal. A good deal for whom? The poor man and his immediate family would have to leave everything they’d worked for and everyone they cared about to go start over with new identities.

Would Erin be so willing to walk away from her life and her family in order to get justice? I think she’d find the choice equally unacceptable.

Willis’ fears and concerns seemed like nothing more than an annoyance to Erin who was hell bent on putting Tariq away.

Although her strategy of putting Willis in the cell next to Tariq worked, it was still a huge risk and despite Erin’s belief that everything was fine now that Tariq’s own words would lock him away, could she really be sure his gang would feel the same way?

Anthony was the one who showed his sense of integrity when he handed Erin his resignation from her office. He admired her voracity for justice but wasn’t willing to play her version of hard ball.

Now that she’s convinced him to come back, I wonder if this is the last we’ve seen of this story.

Frank played his own game of chess with Garrett, Sid, and the police union.

It was nice of him to fall on his sword to allow Sid to play the hero but as Garrett pointed out, it was smart as well. Sid is his inside man within the rank and file and this move only solidified his place there.

The moment Danny and Baez found the teacher bleeding in the back of the wine store, I suspected him of being a part of the crime. Why would the robber, who had already killed a man, take the time to hunt down a possible witness in the back of the store but not make sure they were dead too?

I appreciated that Danny realized how easy it was to throw he and Baez off the trail by giving them the description of an average black male to chase after. It was a nice change of pace to have him recognize his own bias.

The big question was, what was in Joseph’s backpack that he was so determined to hide if not a gun? I guess we may never know.

13 Best Guest Appearances on TV

Perhaps you know them from elsewhere...

Movies, music or other TV shows.

But these actors made quite an impression with nothing more than a guest role.

Some of them did it over a several installments while others had just one episode to make their mark.

Either way, we found their performances not only memorable but unforgettable.

From dramas to comedies to sci-fi...

Check out these 13 guest stars who left their mark on some our favorite current shows on TV.

1. James Marsters and Charisma Carpenter - Supernatural

Charisma carpenter and james marsters on supernatural
James Marsters and Charisma Carpenter appeared on Supernatural as a bickering married couple. They were also powerful witches and were using their magic against each other. Dean and Sam stepped in to stop it but in the end, it was their love that ended the feud. Seeing Buffy the Vampire Slayer alums together is always fun! They didn't interact all that much on Buffy (with Cordeilia going over to Angel) but they did some pretty heavy interacting on Supernatural (if you know what I mean!)

2. Paul Reubens - Gotham

Penguins dad gotham season 2 episode 15
Who doesn't love Pee-wee Herman? Though not as wacky as his iconic man/boy character, Paul Reubens' stint as Elijah Van Dahl was just the kind of quirky you'd expect Penguin's dad to be. It's just too bad we were only able to enjoy Reubens for two short episodes.

3. Cyndi Lauper - Bones

Cyndi lauper guest stars on bones
Cyndi Lauper has guest starred on Bones four times as psychic Avalan Harmonia…and isn't that just the perfect name! Lauper's Avalan plays perfectly next to Angela's open mindedness and even better opposite Brennan's strict science driven, evidence based philosophy. A psychic certainly wouldn't fit in regularly at the Jeffersonian but whenever Lauper pops in for a visit we know it’s going to be fun.

4. Megan Fox - New Girl

Megan fox new girl
First, she was actually very funny. Second, she allowed the show to focus on the men of the loft instead of Jess, which is where the real humor lies. Third, she looked like Megan Fox!

5. Samuel L. Jackson - Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Samuel l jackson marvels agents of shield
S.H.I.E.L.D. had just fallen when Hydra's activated members took the organization down from within. Ward had just revealed he was Hydra and dropped FitzSimmons into the ocean. Everything was falling apart and all hope was lost until Nick Fury, the then director of the crumbling organization showed up to pull them out of the water. Let's face it, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury will always be our hero.

6. Oliver Platt - The Good Wife

Oliver platt the good wife
Oliver Platt joined The Good Wife for three episodes and they were awesome. Watching conservative billionaire Reese Dimple debate abortion and gay rights with liberal Diane Lockhart made for truly compelling TV. The discussion was as intelligent as it was riveting and Platt and Baranski’s performances were at the top of their game. Our only disappointment was that we didn't get to see more of R.D. before the series end.

Blue Bloods Season 6 Episode 22 Review: Blowback

Everyone had an agenda on Blue Bloods Season 6 Episode 22 and, as Jamie said, it had little to do with the truth.

It used to be that if a police officer shot and killed a man with a knife, there would be no question that it was a justifiable shooting.

How things have changed.

Public Outrage - Blue Bloods

One of the things I’ve always enjoyed about Blue Bloods is that it attempts to show different perspectives. Yes, in many ways it is pro law enforcement but that doesn’t mean that it doesn’t question the tactics of police officers.

Did Perez deserve to be killed? No, but as Mayor Poole pointed out in the end, his death was very much within his own hands. He committed an armed robbery, ran from the police and then held a knife while approaching an officer holding a gun on him.

I think it’s very easy for Nicky, or anyone else who has never been in such a situation to think that the officer should have found another, less lethal way to handle things.

As Danny pointed out with his own special brand of eloquence in this Blue Bloods quote

Officer Russell should have taken the one and a half seconds that stood between a knife and his throat and asked this Diego Perez character, Hey, how you feeling?

Danny

I think many times people forget that these decisions are made in split seconds and under pressure that most of us will thankfully never have to know.

As unfortunate as it was that Perez lost his life, I didn’t blame Russell for taking that shot. Perez could have dropped the knife at any time but chose not to and kept advancing. Whether it was deliberate or adrenaline we’ll never know but that’s on Perez not the officer.

Should the fact that Perez was speaking Spanish while Officer Russell was speaking English have been brought up to the grand jury? I would have preferred that it were, along with the witnesses that claimed the victim spoke fluent English but I doubt it would have changed anything.

It was obvious from the very beginning that Marta leaked the video. The only thing that surprised me was how adamant she was that she had done the right thing up until the end. Her actions not only led to a cop getting shot but she just threw away a career she spent years building and was facing criminal charges. I suppose uncompromising idealism was all she had left.

The backlash that Jamie and Eddie faced from Officer Hayes was as ridiculous as it was real. I have no doubt that some cops feel they should protect one of their own no matter what, but lying to protect Officer Russell would have been nothing but stupidity.

There were many witnesses who knew Jamie and Eddie weren’t there at the time of the shooting not to mention the body cam footage. Lying would have only made things worse.

Thankfully Mayor Poole chose not to resign. What fun would it be if Frank Reagan didn’t have a worthy adversary to go up against from time to time?

I also loved this Reagan family dinner, especially how Henry snapped at the boys. We never see that but it gave it a sense of authenticity.

There were plenty of small family moments in this episode, despite the outside drama. I loved Erin joking that Jamie was the one who was unbearable after his first year of college, although I don’t doubt that could be true, and Erin and Danny's good natured sniping at the end made me smile.

I love that the Reagan family acts like family.

Well, Blue Bloods season 6 is over and season 7 won’t begin until the fall. What were your favorite moments? Do you wish they’d done anything differently?

21 Characters Who Are Just Jerks

$

0

They say art imitates life, and just like in real life there are jerks on TV too.

It doesn't matter if it's a man or a woman, because everyone on TV (and in real life) can be a jerk sometimes.

Some of these characters are jerks year-round, others only part time, and some may have made a bad choice one time, but it made them look like a jerk anyway.

Check out our list of jerks below and see if you agree with our picks!

1. Louis Litt - Suits

Louis suits
Louis is the epitome of selfish and arrogant. He's a know-it-all who hates everybody. He’s the leader of the "woe is me" club and thinks no one likes him. He's right. They don't, and we don’t. He truly is the Moby Dick of all jerks.

2. Lucious Lyon - Empire

Lucious lyon empire
From the very beginning Lucious has shown how much of a jerk he can be. Not only is he controlling and selfish, he’s arrogant and extraordinarily mean. He loves to play favorites with his kids, and then turn on them in a flash.

He lies whenever necessary, and will leave people in a lurch if it suits him. He’s horrible to women and has betrayed everyone around him at one time or another, and we’ve only just finished Season 2! As hard as we tried, there's not much to like about this jerk.

3. Corky Corcoran - The Night Manager

Corky the night manager
Corky was suspicious of Jonathan Pine the minute he showed up to save Danny from kidnappers, and he let Pine know it in some not so nice words and ways throughout the entire series.

But, his jerkiest moment was when he got drunk at lunch and made the biggest scene ever when he verbally attacked a waiter, made a snarky toast to Jed, grabbed Pine’s butt, and called his boss an idiot.

Tom Hollander took the word “jerk” to new levels with this outstanding performance.

4. Black Jack Randall - Outlander

Black jack randall outlander
Jerk might actually be a compliment for this jerk since he may possibly be the worst of the worst. There aren’t enough words to describe how much we loathe this guy. He’s arrogant, sadistic, and absolutely despicable. He’s done unspeakable things to both children and adults and is a menace to society.

5. Felicity Smoak - Arrow

Felicity smoak arrow
Sure Felicity is a fan favorite, but that doesn’t mean she’s not immune to being a jerk sometimes. When she found out Oliver had a son, she wasn’t very sympathetic, not because of William, but because Oliver never told her about the boy. It didn’t matter that it wasn’t Oliver’s choice not to tell her, she still ended her relationship with him anyway.

Her biggest jerk moment of this whole scenario came during a later episode when she told Dig that he was “one illegitimate child away from a really awesome Oliver Queen impersonation.”

Really, Felicity? Being a jerk is not your style, but that was a pretty jerky thing for you to say.

6. Marnie Michaels - Girls

Marnie michaels girls
How much of a jerk is Marnie? Let us count the ways: She’s judgemental. She’s a phony. She uses people. She’s a control freak. She’s two-faced. She's annoying. She’s arrogant. She's horrible. Need we say more?

Did Frank try to cover up the truth?

That was a key question on Blue Bloods Season 7 Episode 6 when an NYPD whistleblower questioned whether there was an abuse of power within the team.

Meanwhile on this addictive drama series, Danny and Baez were suspicious of a car accident which involved a pedestrian and questioned whether it was intentional.

However, they quickly realized there was something off about the whole thing.

What will CBS renew?

The Odd Couple showed some promise last season, but all of that has been pretty much squandered. It won't be back.

2 Broke Girls is slipping, but CBS might still keep it around if it makes them enough money. Kevin Can Wait is still safe, but any more slippage and its fate becomes murky.

Man With a Plan and The Great Indoors had their orders extended to 19 episodes each. If they can stay stable, they have a shot at sticking around, but I don't like their odds of retaining their ratings.

Pure Genius won't make the cut for any more episodes. It's performing terribly.

Code Black had a shorter order last year, but this season could be it for the medical drama barring a miracle.

Something tells me Elementary got the order for two more episodes to close the series out.

It's worth noting, when considering these figures, that CBS is currently averaging a 1.49 rating among adults 18-49 with original programming.

If you want to see how the other networks are stacking up, we have separate posts for The CW, ABC, Fox and NBC.

Note: Training Day, Doubt, Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders, The Amazing Race and Undercover Boss are on tap for mid-season.

1. The Big Bang Theory - Likely Renewal

The big bang theory likely renewal
Season 10 is down just 5 percent, averaging 14.5 million viewers and a 3.5 rating. The only thing that will come between a renewal is if the stars want out. If the stars do want out, the spin-off could easily replace it.

2. Kevin Can Wait - Likely Renewal

Kevin can wait could go either way
Kevin Can Wait managed to stabilize after losing The Big Bang Theory as a lead in.. Season 1 is averaging 8.6 million viewers and a 2.0 rating. There are some issues behind the scenes, but CBS will find a way to keep the show around.

3. NCIS - Certain Renewal

Ncis certain renewal
NCIS is down just over 10 percent, averaging 14.9 million and a 1.9 rating. It will be back for many more seasons.

4. The Great Indoors - Could Go Either Way

The great indoors could go either way
The Great Indoors premiered with 8.2 million viewers and a 1.7 rating. It lost almost half of The Big Bang Theory lead-in. We'll need to wait for some more data.

5. Bull - Certain Renewal

Bull certain renewal
Bull has been one of few freshman hits. Season 1 is averaging 13 million viewers and a 1.7 rating. It gets a sizeable increase in delayed viewing and CBS will want to keep Michael Weatherly around.

6. Criminal Minds - Certain Renewal

Criminal minds certain renewal
Ratings are down almost 10 percent to 7.9 million and a 1.6 rating. The show gets a huge boost in delayed viewing. It will be back.

Blue Bloods Season 7 Episode 7 Review: Guilt by Association

$

Everyone had their challenges on Blue Bloods Season 7 Episode 7 although some were far worse than others.

Danny’s biggest issue was working with Anthony.

Danny and Anthony - Blue Bloods

What was with Danny’s attitude? This can possibly be the first time that an investigator from the DA’s office has had to follow up on one of his cases. As Anthony pointed out, sometimes they need to gather more evidence in order to ensure a conviction. This can’t be news to Danny.

But I will say that watching Anthony give it right back to Danny was kind of fun. Not enough people are willing to put Danny in his place, and Anthony wasn’t about to put up with any of his crap.

However, I was left wondering if Diaz was going to go after Erin. He threatened her life as he was hauled out of court, but I’d assume that must happen with some frequency when you're prosecuting murderers.

Elsewhere, Frank got played by Robert Lewis from the Attorney General’s office.

If Lewis leaked Frank’s line about the NYPD not being perfect to the Daily News, then he’s one heck of a hypocrite for threatening Frank with more investigations because he spoke out at the press conference.

Unfortunately, that seems to be the state of politics in our society. It’s all about winning and one-upmanship with very few people in office who appear to care about the real people they’re suppose to be helping.

Most crimes occur in minority neighborhoods. It follows that the highest use of firearms also occurs in minority neighborhoods.

Frank

The statistic Frank used was impressive; there were 35 incidents that year where weapons were fired out of 35,000 police officers and over 8 million citizens.

Still, there’s nothing necessarily wrong with oversight, but when it’s wielded by someone with a clear agenda, there’s little doubt that the results will be skewed. Overall, this entire storyline was disheartening because it’s probably far too close to the truth.

Speaking of disheartening, Jamie and Eddie dealt with the jumper from Hell, but it did give us a memorable Blue Bloods quote

Jamie: I hate jumpers.
Eddie: At least if he jumps it's in the East River.
Jamie: No splat.
Eddie: Yeah.

  • Permalink:
  • Added:

Mike beating his ex-girlfriend to death with a baseball bat was in no way Jamie’s fault, but I can understand why this incident will haunt him; it was truly horrifying.

I appreciated how Danny tried to relate to his brother and offered whatever understanding he could. It’s nice to see Danny and Jamie relating as equals because Jamie’s not a rookie any more.

Danny Offers Jamie Advice - Blue Bloods Season 7 Episode 7

It’s clear that both Jamie and Eddie are beginning to realize that their relationship might be more than professional, at least I’m sure that that was Eddie’s take away after her conversation with Jennifer.

Also, Eddie had a good point, it is a little odd that Jamie hasn’t had one serious relationship since his fiancee left him. And Jamie certainly didn’t look thrilled to meet Eddie’s new boyfriend.

This is a tough one, because as much as I’d like to see these two explore a romantic relationship, I love them as partners. But the show obviously sees their chemistry and this has to be heading somewhere; I just hope it’s somewhere good.

How did Danny feel about Anthony working with him?

That was addressed on Blue Bloods Season 7 Episode 7 when Anthony joined him temporarily to solve the murder of a witness in one of his cases.

15 TV Grandparents We Wish Had Been Ours!

$

Not all grandparents are created equal, especially on TV.

Where some grandparents offer words of wisdom and sage advice, others are there to tell it like it is and deliver the tough love.

Then there are those who share their love with their own special brand of sass.

Whether these folks are the perfect grandparents we never had or just amusingly dysfunctional, these Grams and Gramps all have one thing in common…

They all love their grandkids and are unendingly entertaining!

So let's take a look at the 15 TV grandparents we wish we had!

1. Martha Rodgers - Castle

Alexis new place
Who wouldn't want Martha Rodgers as their grandmother, or “Gram” as Alexis called her. She was fun and vivacious, yet loving and loyal. Martha was always ready with helpful, usually unsolicited advice (whether it was always the best advice was another story). She was also there with a big hug, a shopping spree (using her son's credit card), and a good party. Who doesn't love that?

2. Zeb and Esther Walton - The Waltons

Zeb and esther walton the waltons
The Waltons were unlike most TV families. They were poor and rural, and had live-in grandparents that everyone loved. Zeb and Ester passed on their wisdom and advice to all of the Walton children, and best of all, every member of the family appreciated their efforts. If we all could be so lucky to experience such love, dedication, and acceptance in real life.

3. Frank Reagan - Blue Bloods

Frank reagan blue bloods
Frank Reagan is a great father and the well respected NYPD Police Commissioner but he's also something else...an amazing grandfather. Frank is always there for his grandkids, whether it's offering sage advice to Nicky or keeping Danny's boys in line at the dinner table. The Reagan grandchildren are incredibly lucky to have such a smart and understanding grandpop.

4. Jay Pritchett - Modern Family

Jay pritchett modern family
Yes, Jay may have a gruff exterior, and he's all about the tough love, but he's also an amazing grandfather. Family means everything to Jay, perhaps even more as he gets older. And whether they're driving him crazy or not, he's always there for all his grandkids.

5. The Dowager Countess Violet Crawley - Downton Abbey

As dowager countess
“It’s the job of grandmothers to interfere.” We suppose it's hard to argue with that. The Dowager Countess delivered some of the most humours one-liners of any grandparent on TV. Her quips were so good that they even have their own mock Twitter account. It's easy to see where Lady Mary got her clever wit and sharpe tongue. It was from her grandmother, obviously!

6. Prince Charming and Snow White - Once Upon a Time

Mary margaret david and henry
Who else has actual fairy tale characters as their grandparents? Royal parents, no less? No one. Henry's life is never dull, mostly because his mom is the missing daughter of the most famous romantic couple from Enchanted Forest. Better yet, Henry gets sword fighting lessons from a real life prince and gets to be a true believer in actual fairy tales.

Blue Bloods Season 7 Episode 8 Review: Personal Business

$
0

What comes first: love, the job, or family? That was the question on Blue Bloods Season 7 Episode 8 and the answers differed depending upon who you asked.

Jamie and Eddie have kept their attraction at bay for quite a while now. They’re good friends and fantastic partners, so why take the chance on screwing that up?

Jamie and Eddie - Blue Bloods

Because the heart wants what the heart wants and it’s clear that these two want one another…

You're not even close to my type. I mean, you're a complete boy scout and you make me crazy most of the time. You're also the best person I think I've ever met and you're the best friend that I've ever had.

Eddie

I loved Eddie in this episode. First, she was right to say no to letting Tara stay with her. Letting a virtual stranger into your home can be dangerous, no matter how good the intentions and there was no predicting when or if Tara would leave on her own.

She's not a stray puppy, Jamie. This job is hard enough without taking it home with me, literally.

Eddie

Every time Eddie called Jamie “awesome” I couldn’t help but laugh. She hit just the right notes of amusement, sarcasm, and jealousy.

And to her credit, she admitted to the jealousy and its underlying cause. Being honest about how she felt took a huge amount of courage. I couldn’t believe that Jamie didn’t kiss her!

No matter whether they act on them or not, knowing that they have these feelings for one another probably means they shouldn’t be partners, so this is going to get weird and difficult no matter what they choose.

But I completely understand why Eddie kissed him before she left. If you’re going to lay your heart bare, you might as well go all in before leaving the ball in his court.

First Kiss - Blue Bloods Season 7 Episode 8

Elsewhere, Frank dealt with Sgt. James Reed in a case that bugged me to no end.

Yes, every NYPD officer takes an oath to protect and serve, even while off duty. But the man had his 10-year-old daughter with him. Announcing himself as a police officer most likely would have sent bullets flying.

That hallway may have been only ten feet away but his child could have frozen or screamed. Moving from that spot in that moment put her life in danger.

What other job expects you to risk your child’s life in order to do your duty? The only upside was that the story gave us one of the best Blue Bloods quotes of all time…

Frank: I can't speak for myself.
Erin: Hell just froze over.

Then there was the case of Emily Harrison.

I could understand Liza viewing Emily as the crazy ex-girlfriend and not believing her at first, but when two detectives tell you the guy you are dating is a rapist and show you photos and you still choose to go back to him then, as Danny said…

If she wants to see this dirt bag there's nothing you or us can do about it. It's her choice.

Danny

Emily probably hasn’t been in her right mind since the rape occurred and going to Brandon’s home, with or without the gun, wasn’t a sound decision. Considering all of the circumstances, this was a case I wouldn’t have minded seeing go to trial, mostly because I’m curious to see how a jury would decide on it.

I was relieved when Frank pointed out to Erin that she could do something about Emily’s shoddy defense, I just didn’t understand why Erin didn’t come to that conclusion on her own. As Erin herself eventually pointed out, sometimes there’s a difference between the law and justice.

Blue Bloods Season 7 Episode 9 Review: Confessions

It felt like everyone had confessions to make on Blue Bloods Season 7 Episode 9, and they all had their consequences.

The latent romance between Jamie and Eddie continued to be an issue between them, and it’s obvious that they’re going to have to come to some sort of decision sooner rather than later.

Wedding Guests - Blue Bloods

Perhaps attending a wedding together wasn’t the best way to stick to being just partners, because a few drinks and a fancy dress seemed to heighten all of the feelings that Jamie has been trying to suppress.

There’s no doubt that Jamie was the one who started that fight. He was surly throughout the wedding, but was it because he felt he had to keep his hands off his partner, or was it because another man wanted his hands on her?

Even when the guy grabbed Eddie on the dance floor, it didn’t appear as though she couldn’t handle the situation. I saw no reason for Jamie to feel he had to run to her rescue. Instead of dealing with his feelings, Jamie tried to bury them and in turn ruined a friend’s wedding, leaving several hundred dollars of cake all over the floor.

But it was Jamie’s invitation at the end that confused me.

As much as I loved the final scene of their dancing, and especially how Eddie poked fun at him for the venue…

Eddie: This place?
Jamie: What?
Eddie: Jamie, people are dancing here. You don't like dancing.

The way she said that line made me laugh. Eddie is so good at chiding Jamie in the most playfully sarcastic way…but back to the dancing, and the conversation with this Blue Bloods quote

Eddie: Do you ever think about what we might be missing out on?
Jamie: Yup. Do you ever think what we might be giving up?
Eddie: Yup.

He asks Eddie to get all dressed up and takes her out to dance but he doesn’t kiss her?!? I’m guessing he meant this pseudo-date as some sort of apology for his behavior at the wedding, but come on! How can he slow dance with her, talk about their potential relationship and still not kiss her?

All I can say is that this better be leading to an amazing culmination of their story, or I’ll be horribly disappointed.

Now that I’ve gotten the budding love story out of our way, on with the rest of the drama.

When Father Phil came to Frank, but refused to tell him where to find the missing 15-year-old, I kept wondering why he showed up at all. I understand that he took a sacred oath, but wasn’t telling Frank even what little he did considered breaking it?

Henry thought it was shameful of Frank to ask the priest to break his oath to save a life, and as much as I appreciated Henry’s feelings on the subject (I’d really never thought of the confessional as a burden until he put it quite that way), I thought it would have been shameful if Frank didn’t do everything humanly possible to find that kid.

I found Frank’s conversation with the ArchBishop very interesting. First, why does the church have surveillance video? Second, would it be perceived differently if a mosque or a temple were being asked to turn over their video, even though they are all religious entities and should be viewed as equals under the law.

Finally, was the Arch Bishop assuming that this was about terrorism, or about finding a pedophile in his parish? As Frank himself said, oh the times we live in.

A Secret Life - Blue Bloods Season 7 Episode 9

Elsewhere, Danny and Baez’s investigation into Lindsay’s murder took some unexpected turns.

I swear, no matter how many years I spend in this city, it's always got another crazy surprise up its sleeve.

Baez

So, Lindsay had two cell phones because she was working as a high-priced call girl for kicks and Gordon wanted to buy her services exclusively for $100,000.

When Gordon’s attorney was asking for discretion because Gordon was happily married, I had to laugh. I think mine and the attorney’s definitions of “happily married” vary greatly.

And as Baez put it so succinctly…

Baez: If your client didn't want his wife to know he was a creep, then he shouldn't have been such a creep.
Danny: You can't really argue with that.

As interesting as the twists in the case were, I had the husband pegged as the murderer from the moment we met him. He was too quick to hand over Lindsay’s cell phone, like he had something to hide, and who calls the police because their wife is half an hour late for dinner?

Of course the highlight of the hour was the Reagan family dinner, where we found out that everyone in the family has done some sort of time in the slammer, whether it be a few hours in holding or time in the brig. But my favorite was when Erin realized that her father had let her spend a night in lockup in Asbury Park, NJ as a teenager.

Frank Reagan has always believed in a healthy dose of tough love. Considering the family he has around that dinner table, it’s obviously worked out well for him.

CBS Cheat Sheet: What Will Be Canceled?

  • Permalink: No splat.
