Both inner and outer beauty can be enhanced by glasses, and they can give us enough courage to consider an approach. After all, their wearers are not perfect. Sometime it's as simple as somebody sporting a pair of frames so fantastic you can't help but turn your head to get a second look.
There are the obvious choices, like Felicity on Arrow, Jess on New Girl and Mad Men's Don Draper in his signature shades.
Then there are the less obvious, like.... oh shut up. You didn't really think we'd make it that easy, did you?
Flip around the slideshow and take a look at the fabulous faces in frames.
Alex needs her glasses, yes, but she also knows how to use them to truly bring on the sexy. Do you think she'd be in prison if she had met Diane Lockhart? Hmmm...
Prior to low cost contact lenses, glasses didn't carry the ridiculous stigma they got in later days. Check out the groovy suit Harry is wearing, accompanied by equally wild rims.
Henry makes a poor attempt to ward off Elizabeth's advances in bed by donning reading glasses. Nice try, handsome! You're missing the point. Glasses are sexy!
In this case, it seems as though casting REALLY thinks putting the future Riddler behind glasses and coming his hair thusly makes him unattractive. Hahahaha.

Have they already received the axe? Have executives already passed along the news you've been dying to hear?
For the most part, the Reagan family are smart people with a lot of common sense who rely on one another in a crisis and for most of Blue Bloods Season 5 Episode 17, that proved to be true, expect for the moments that had me yelling at my TV screen.
If Erin honestly suspected that someone was sneaking into her apartment, why were she and her teenaged daughter still staying there? She’d suspected it had happened twice before.
The first time, I could understand that she’d think she might be imagining things, but the second? Why hadn’t she installed a security system or had detectives sweep the place earlier? And why not just call her brother, the detective.
I know the Reagans don’t like to ask for favors or do anything that makes it appear that they’re getting special treatment but this was taking it to the extreme.
At least when she realized that there was something wrong at the office she immediately went back for her gun and to call security. In reality she should have remained in her office until someone got there but then she wouldn’t have been the one to find Morgan lying unconscious and bleeding.
The only other oddity was that we didn’t get to hear Frank weigh in on all of this, other than being an escort for Nicky.
Speaking of Nicky her naivete drives me crazy. The girl has grown up in New York City her entire life. Can she really not spot a scam like the fake fundraisers who slap a logo on a jar and wander around collecting donations? Has her family sheltered her that much?
But that scene where Frank questioned the kid hustling for funds was my favorite. When Frank gave the kid that knowing smile as he said, “I just want to say thank you to whoever’s in charge” I couldn’t help but smile too.
I get that it must be, in some ways, difficult growing up in a law enforcement family where everyone is surrounded by the worst of humanity every day. Nicki’s right, she couldn’t survive it. It would drag her under and she has the right to pursue something she’d find more satisfying but as Frank pointed out in this Blue Bloods quote…
You’re going to have a tough time making a living assuming the best in people.
Or she’s probably going to get taken advantage of a lot before she grows a thicker skin.
However, I do wonder if Frank chose to tell her that the “charity” was all a scam or if he protected her from that reality?
Jamie and Eddie had a heck of a day as they almost got blown up, twice. The only thing that saved them the second time was a well place bullet from Jamie’s gun.
Is it just me, or do all of the detectives they come across seem arrogant and narrow-minded? I know that this one eventually came around but that wasn’t until Jamie and Eddie broke the case. Until then, he made it clear that Eddie trying to work her angle on Beth was a waste of time and gave them nothing but attitude for their efforts.
I was proud of Eddie for giving her phone number to Beth, although I’m certain she’ll have days when she’ll regret it. Maybe she should bring Nicky along to show her what helping people is like in the real world.
Castle is our #1 single dad on the list. He single handedly raised daughter Alexis and even when she turned on him early in season six in a fit of young love (remember Pi?) and growing pains, he only gave back unconditional love.
Phil is probably the most traditional dad on the list. Whether he's teaching Luke the importance of magic, trying to bond with super smart Alex or scrambling to keep up with Haley's latest endeavor, Phil is goofy, fun, and loves his children beyond reason.
The career womanizer believed that true love didn't exist, until he met his baby daughter Ellie. "You are the love of my life. Everything I have and everything I am is yours. Forever."
Yes, Jack may have a lot of babysitters but that's what happens when you're a single parent running a bar. No one can refute that Jack loves little Carl and takes his role as parent and protector seriously, especially since Amanda's death.
With a death sentence hanging over his baby girl, Klaus made a difficult decision and sent her away to Rebekah with the Hope that New Orleans would one day be safe enough for her to return.
Since his wife walked out on him and their two young daughters to pursue her acting career and start a new life, Brick has been the only parent that Lemon and Magnolia could rely on growing up.
It's no secret that marriage takes work. Perhaps that's why a successful union can be hard to find in both real life and on TV. But some couples manage to get it right with deep friendship, mutual respect and lots of love.
Whether they work together to catch killers, share a love of science, jointly raise their children or had to wait years to be allowed to tie the knot, these spouses know how to keep the magic alive.
These are the duos who know that enjoying one another's company and loving one another sometimes means keeping a sense of humor and that accepting each other's quirks can go a long way in keeping the love alive.
Check out our slideshow of 17 happily married couples on TV today.
They started out as the tough-as-nails detective and her annoying shadow. Seven seasons later they are one of the happiest married couples on TV. Equal measures sexy, sweet and funny, it's hard to imagine that these two won’t be together, always.
Monroe and Rosalee may be two completely different species (he's a wolf-like Blutbad, she's a foxy Fuchsbau), but their love for each other is undeniable. Brought together by tragic circumstances, they defied cultural expectations by falling in love, and they eventually wed. Despite hostility to their relationship by those who consider an inter-racial marriage like theirs to be scandalous, or practically heretical, Monroe and Rosalee remain deeply devoted to each other.
Before Howard met Bernadette, he was immature, still lived with his mom, and was honestly pretty creepy. Since they've been together, he's grown up significantly and the two of them have become one of the cutest and funniest couples on TV. The adorable song he wrote for her for the anniversary of their first date still gets me choked up every time I hear it.Â
Those on the outside may look at Gloria as the trophy wife but she and Jay are so much more. She keeps him young. He gives her the love and security she never had. Together they've found a happy marriage and a very modern family with lots of laughs.
Jackson and April have an amazing love story. Who didn't burst into tears when Jackson objected at April's wedding and swooped in to win her heart? The two have been through their share of challenges, and the recent loss of their child is one of the most tragic things we've seen on the show. Hopefully, that tragedy won't drive a wedge between them.
What makes Diane and Kurt so spectacular is that they are polar opposites in so many ways, but they know better than to let those differences define them. Instead, they allow their differences to enhance their relationship and they grow as a result. They're one of my favorite couples on TV.
These two may seem an odd match on paper, and it's true that Marge probably deserves better than the dimwitted Homer, but they've loved and supported one another through thick and thin for twenty-six seasons. Their love has survived unsupportive family members, affair opportunities, and more idiotic mistakes (on Homer's part) than anyone could count. It wouldn't be hard to argue that they're one of the greatest TV couples of all time.
He's a college professor. She's a former CIA agent turned Secretary of State. Despite demanding careers and raising three challenging teenagers, Elizabeth and Henry still manage to make one another a priority.
They're love has survived through multiple realities, time shifts and evil villains. They've even proved that True Love's kiss can break a curse. Whether they go by David and Mary Margaret or Prince Charming and Snow White, these two embody the true meaning of happily ever after.
Phil's the goofball. Claire's the control freak. Together they find just the right balance and make the perfect team. Add in three kids and a large extended family and you'll find that even after the all these years, they're still happy to have each other.
We were beginning to wonder about Bishop’s mysterious husband who was no where to be found on screen during her first season on NCIS. But once he appeared there was no doubt about how happy these two seem to be. From couples yoga to nights out with her colleagues, they've definitely made their marriage a top priority.
Booth and Brennan had a rough beginning but starting a family and getting married has made them happier than we’ve seen either of the separately in years.
Danny and Linda probably have one of the most realistic marriages on TV. They stress over money and the kids and not spending enough time with one another. Yet, beneath it all the love is still there, they just have to make the time for it some days.
They were already a great couple and great parents to daughter Lilly before they ever got married. So we were thrilled to see Cam and Mitch finally tie the knot and make it official last season. Their acceptance of one another’s quirks makes their marriage even stronger.
In the beginning their relationship was strictly professional. She was on the case of serial killer Red John. He was the consultant whose wife and daughter Red John had brutally murdered. It hardly seemed like the start of a great romance. Yet after years of working together, love found a way and eventually led to marriage. We have little doubt that Patrick and Teresa (and baby on the way) have found their happily ever after.
John and Kathryn are arguably one of the happiest couples on TV. Finding out their daughter was switched at birth, being a support system for their kids and career changes -- they've always managed to make it work thanks to open communication and mutual respect for one another.
She's an artist with a famous musician father. He's the scientist and conspiracy theorist who grew up rich. Now they're a happily married couple with a son who go to work together at the Jeffersonian in order to put murderers behind bars.
Just when I think I’ve got this show all figured out, Blue Bloods Season 5 Episode 18 comes along and manages to surprise me.
Sarah’s story was horrifying. A man murdered her entire family when she was just a child and Frank Reagan described the case as the single most disturbing crime he’d ever witnessed. From someone who’s been a cop for three decades, that’s saying something.
But when Donald Berry sent Sarah a letter as part of the Restorative Justice program, I had a sick feeling. Donald’s priest and his counselor’s believed he had been rehabilitated. Frank wasn’t buying it, but Baker had a different perspective. She believed that people could change. That there's always hope.
Is that true, even of someone who slaughters someone else’s entire family? Even when someone tells a 7-year-old little girl in court that his only regret was that he didn't kill her, too? I’m with Danny on this one…
The really bad people, they don't change. They just come up with new ways to trick you into thinking they did.
It took a lot of guts for Sarah to go and face that man and I loved how Frank stood by her side, even when he was told he should leave because there was no protocol for such a thing. Some things are simply non-negotiable and he wasn’t about to let Sarah face her demons alone.
It turned out that Sarah did just fine, although Frank’s presence probably helped. Donald explained about his undiagnosed mental illness. About his medication and counseling. About his suicide attempt, how he’d found God and how he now helps prisoners in crisis. About how sorry he was that he knew he could never “save” Sarah.
To be honest, I kept expecting this to turn into a story about how there should be hope for rehabilitation no matter what the crime, but then Sarah surprised me when she responded in this Blue Bloods quote…
If you're really sorry you will try and kill yourself again and you'll get it right this time.
I literally laughed out loud. That was the last thing I expected Sarah to say, but a part of me loved it. I can’t imagine who could look the person who murdered their family in the eye, the person who changed the course of their entire life in the most heinous way and offer forgiveness. Perhaps that type of person exists, but I know it’s not me. I found myself cheering for Sarah.
Henry introduced Erin to his new girlfriend Sylvia and Erin’s antennae went up immediately. She had Alex look into Sylvia and I loved him all the more when he fed her “The Grandpa Killer” story.
It turned out Erin wasn’t overreacting. Sylvia had multiple aliases and an open warrant in Florida for grand larceny. I liked that she turned the information over to Henry and let him make the choice. Unfortunately, Sylvia was conning herself if she thought dating a former cop, who has an entire family in law enforcement, was a good idea.

Elsewhere, Eddie got to make her mark in an undercover operation. When Danny explained that Eddie’s name popped up when they searched for someone who spoke Serbian and also fit the profile they needed, I had to love when Eddie shot back, “I hope that means young and hot.” Exactly.
Jamie was worried, and with reason. He was almost killed during his first undercover operation and this one was thrown together pretty quickly, but his initial assessment of his partner turned out to be correct. She’s smart and tough as nails. Not only did she manage to take the guy down in the bathroom (and I’ll never look at the top of a commode the same way again), but she stopped Tatiana before she shot Jamie.
Job well done and a stellar episode of Blue Bloods. My only very minor complaint was that the Reagan family dinner was much too short.
It looks like Blue Bloods is off next week due to basketball, but you can watch Blue Bloods online any time right here at TV Fanatic.
No, but on the Empire Season 1 finale Lucious taunts his son to determine who is more powerful, him or God.
Other quotes include Mindy worrying about her pregnancy body on The Mindy project, Oliver pondering becoming the next Ra's al Ghul and Rogelio touting his own ear for comedy on Jane the Virgin.
Flip around the slideshow and discover what other quotes made the cut this week and whether you're missing out on some mind-blowing new series waiting to be discovered. Hint: of course you are!
Lucious: [to Andre] So is this the little angel that's got you down here filling your head with all these ideas about a higher purpose? Let's see who's more powerful, your God or your daddy.
Harrison: Do you know how hard it has been to keep all of this from you, especially from you, because the truth is I've grown quite fond of you and in many ways you have shown me what it's like to have a son. Forgive me, but to me you've been dead for centuries.
Rosa: You never told me Sinbad lived in your building. ~~~~~
Jake: If Sinbad lived in my building, I'd have a tattoo on my head that said 'Sinbad lives in my building.'
Peter: No, you're not supposed to hit it into the water. ~~~~~
Lois: But you hit it into the water. ~~~~~
Peter: I know I hit it into the water. ~~~~~
Lois: But why do they have water if you're not supposed to hit it there. ~~~~~
Peter: Because it's fun! We're having fun!
Klaus: The truth is Elijah and Rebekah can be a bit naive when it comes to family relations. Case in point, their unending faith in me. I repay that loyalty by guarding them against treachery they cannot see and I sense that you are treacherous indeed.
Oliver: He said I can do more as the new Ra's than I could ever do as Oliver Queen or the Arrow. That I would have unlimited resources. That I could make a difference, not just a dent. ~~~~~
Diggle: You aren't really considering this, just because Capt. Lance is angry and Felicity is momentarily unavailable?
Russ: Your snitch is an NBA cheerleader? ~~~~~
Al: You got a problem with that? ~~~~~
Russ: No I don't got a problem with that. My problem is that my snitch is a fat, annoying, hairy moron.
Camille: I died, didn't I? ~~~~~
Lena: Yeah. ~~~~~
Camille: Are you afraid of me? ~~~~~
Lena: [shakes her head, no] ~~~~~
Camille: I'm afraid of myself.
Danny: When we were calling the wheel looking for someone who spoke Serbian you were the only one in the entire department who fit age and physical profile. ~~~~~
Eddie: I hope that means young and hot.
Lana: I don't know, was someone else in here yelling their idiot head off about being in the CIA? ~~~~~
Archer: I don't know! Was someone else making out with Frodo P. Gryffindor here just to make someone else jealous?
It's Sexy Saturday and we're admitting we're intrigued by sarcasm. Yes, it's a shield, protecting the individual using it. Who can resist someone so emotional they have to hide behind sharp and cutting words to keep others from getting close?
We love their biting wit, especially as it ironically draws people in with the hopes of getting to that gooey, soft interior.
Dean is a tough as nails guy who would wear his heart on his sleeve if not for the heavy armor of sarcasm he uses to protect himself. He's a brother and protector who has gone to hell and back to save the world. He loves deeper than he cares to admit. His cutting remarks help him survive and we can't get enough. "That's the problem. See, you don't think anybody's lying. I think everybody's lying. It's a gift."
As a backseat driver on Jaha's journey to the City of Light, his snarky commentary has provided an element of fun to the former Chancellor's quest for spiritual enlightenment. And who can forget his impeccable sense of direction
when Jaha heads the wrong way: "Camp You is that way."
Nick's sarcasm and dry wit, especially when combined with Schmidt's light-hearted humor or Jess' wide-eyed innocence, is the voice of snarky reason we all need in our lives. "When you put it like that, it sounds amazing...AND like prison."
From the very first episode, Espo was the smart ass with the cocky smile at the 12th precinct. He’s always quick to rib Beckett, his partner Ryan and most definitely Castle. But our favorite was when he told Beckett in the pilot episode, "A control freak like you with something you can't control? No, no. That's gonna be more fun than shark week."
Max has been working all her life, which has made her slightly bitter. Perhaps slightly is the wrong term. The good news is her sweet side comes out through her amazing cupcakes, but she hides it behind her emotional shield, snark. The end result is she's incredibly sexy in a hard, yet vulnerable way. "Twitter is stupid and Instagram is Twitter for people who can't read."
Damon is charming, seductive, arrogant, dark, funny and sadistic. He's both handsome and pretty, and males and females are both inexplicably drawn to him despite, or maybe because of his contradictory ways. Most of all, he's got a way with words. "I do believe in killing the messenger. Know why? It sends a message."
What fun is it being the Evil Queen if you can’t throw out some great one-liners.
She’s especially good at schooling the heroes in town when they get a little too self righteous like when she told Mary Margaret, "This could be the worst idea you've ever had and you hired the Wicked Witch as your nanny."
Tony uses his signature smile and quick wit to hide his more serious side, but we can’t say we don’t love every comical quip and apropos movie reference. No one does smart ass with as much style as DiNozzo. " [Tony answers the phone in front of two Teenagers] Ops. Yeah. It's DiNozzo. Hey Mattie, I need to requisition two sets of genital cuffs, and I gotta requisition the Mark-5 Taser again. No you don't have to clean them, I'll wear rubber gloves. Thanks."
Danny is a tough, top-notch detective, devoted husband and father and an all around smart ass. He’s especially good at using that talent when it comes to his siblings, like his sister, Erin. Erin: Do you think I'm too old to sell my body? - Danny: No, not to science anyway.
You can always count on Kol for a completely inappropriate, smartass remark, no matter whose body he's in. Those bodies always seem to be good looking to the point of distraction, but you'll hear no complaints from us! "I've met a lot of people and you don't particularly stand out."
Sue is a bully. She's a real pain in the ass and yet sometimes managed to unwittingly inspire Will with her forked tongue. To ease any doubts, Sue went out on top as Vice President of the US. Despite ourselves, we love to hate to love Sye Sylvester's wicked words. “You know what, I checked out of our conversation about a minute back, so good luck with your troubles, and I’m gonna make it a habit not to stop and talk to students because this has been a colossal waste of my time.â€
Blaine is cheeky, devious, and damn sexy for a zombie, no matter how pale his skin is. He blew into Liv's life spouting quite a few hilarious comebacks, and we're already in love with him. Ravi: Would you mind if I check inside your ears? ~ Blaine: Brother, you do what you gotta do. I'll drop trou if you think you can cure this.
He’s handsome, swings both ways in the romance department, has a unique fashion sense and his intelligence is only eclipsed by his love of sarcasm which he uses to get his point across and make us laugh at the same time. "I'm sorry, could you repeat that? Because all I could hear was the sound of my revenge-free summer being strangled to death by a web of thorns."
The more it's used, the more attractive these characters become. Does that make us troubled? Probably. You're in it with us because we're representing of our most popular shows! We're all suckers for the wounded warriors.
Who did we miss and who uses it best? Flip around the slideshow and let us know if we hit the mark.
The CBS calendar begins wrapping up on April 20th, with one TV Fanatic favorite making way for another to jump back into the schedule.
The full schedule is below, with freshman Scorpion, already renewed for Season 2, being the first taking its bow. That makes room for another freshman series, Stalker, which has not received a second series order, to air its remaining episodes on Monday nights at 9/8c beginning May 4 (we snuck that onto the calendar).
The May sweeps rating period this year begins on April 23rd, and that's when the lion's share of the finales will air. Take a look!
What type of warped, twisted, evil person decides to burn another person alive just for kicks? I can’t wrap my mind around that and I don’t ever want to.
That opening scene of Blue Bloods Season 5 Episode 19 was completely horrifying. I felt sick just watching it. As Frank Reagan put it, it was an act without real motive and without any logic other than pure evil. Perhaps even worse, people watched from above and not only didn’t they try and help, no one bothered to pick up the phone to dial 911.
It reminded me of that saying, "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." Apparently, many people did nothing as that man burned alive.
As Garrett pointed out, Brooklyn North was the murder capital of NYC, which meant that the NYPD definitely needed to do more in that area. In that way, Ann Farrell was right to shine a light on this problem area in the hopes of it getting more attention. Unfortunately, it seemed that she’d turned it into a vendetta against the Police Commissioner, as Frank so aptly pointed out in this Blue Bloods quote…
Ann: My issue is with the leadership. Frank: So you can isolate my from the herd. Easier to take me down.
As much as I believe in a reporter’s right to protect their source, there should also be a moral imperative to bring a murderer to justice, especially when they’ve openly stated that they plan to kill again. In not turning over that name, Ann was allowing those future killings to take place.
We could only assume that the anonymous tip came from her. Ann and Frank’s drink at the end felt a bit odd. Had they come to some sort of a truce? I suppose so but I’d be interested to see their story continue.
Danny and Baez’s Rescue Ride was the episode’s weakest link. Would a 16-year-old really be allowed to ride around with detectives to murder scenes? As much as I appreciated the concept of the program, the tough love, scared straight message felt over done.
Erin delved into Alex’s mother’s murder without really thinking it through. I’m sure he knew every word in that case file after 20 years. Erin didn’t realize that her offer to help would be opening up old wounds. Thankfully, Alex saw the offer for what it was…
You were thinking with your heart, which you always do.
It was one more step closer for these two in what I hope is a road that eventually leads to a more personal relationship.
The Reagan family dinner was a good one as Nicky got shut down when she tried to record her family at the dinner table. Family dinners are sanctuary where everyone can speak openly. But Nicky’s question was interesting, What advice would you give your younger self?
The most surprising was that Linda wanted to be a doctor but was told it wasn’t possible, so she settled for being a nurse. Jamie would tell himself not to be so cautious. I think his jump from law school to NYPD would prove he’s taken that advice. They all had good advice but somehow “Never forget where you come from” sounded kind of self righteous coming from Nicky.
Check back in next week for Blue Bloods Season 5 Episode 20 and if you can’t wait for the next Reagan family dinner, you can watch Blue Bloods online now here at TV Fanatic.
Another week, more quotes than we can shake a stick at!
Last week we saw Shameless end and the premieres of Outlander, Mad Men and Salem. Yep, we have quotes from them all. Thanks to a wonky midmorning premiere before the bell rang on this post, we even have an entry from the first installment of Daredevil for you to take in!
Arizona is contemplating the consequences of chopping off a man's "package" on Grey's Anatomy and Brennan actually exaggerated on Bones this week! Raj chatted about The Beatles and Liv made note of Take Back the Night on iZombie.
Don't waste any more time, flip around the slideshow and get to know some quotable moments from the week ending April 9, 2015!

Did anyone really think that Frank Reagan was going to kow tow to a Senator on Blue Bloods Season 5 Episode 20? But it was fun to see the Senator try to get his way and he certainly used every trick in the book to do it.
First he tried to cover for his mistress / colleague but Frank saw through that ploy pretty quickly…
Senator McCreary: Jess Weinstein, my Deputy Chief of Staff. She masterminded my last campaign. She's sharp as a tac. Frank: Until she becomes as dumb as a box of rocks with one of my officers.
Mouthing off to a police officer was not going to buy her any good will with Frank Reagan and there was little doubt that the Senator’s threats would do anything more than make Frank dig his heels in further. The man bends over backwards to make sure nothing about this office even hints at impropriety. He wasn’t about to let a Senator push him into making a DUI disappear.
What I didn’t expect was that he’d end up sitting across from Ms. Farrell to explain an incident that occurred back in 1986. I was actually thrilled to see these two face off once again and then disappointed that we got so little of the interview. These two actors have some wonderful chemistry and having the majority of their interaction happen off camera felt like a missed opportunity.
Jamie and Eddie caught an odd and disturbing case. Did all of those people really see Christina lying unconscious and shirtless in the middle of the park and do absolutely nothing to help her because they were playing a game? Not one of them even suspected that something was wrong or took the time to call 911. That was frightening.
Unfortunately, Christina’s story quickly turned into a game of he said / she said and I loved Erin’s take on that at the Reagan family dinner in this Blue Bloods quote…
Trying to get to the truth of situations like that is like trying to deconstruct a milk shake.
Needless to say, I love these family dinners. Even more so because we get to hear the perspectives of four different generations on any given topic. This time it was advice to Jamie about how to deal with his case. The answers were simple. Be a gentleman whenever possible and go the extra mile to find the answer. Jamie did both.
I didn’t like that Jamie immediately assumed that Eddie believed the girlfriend’s story because of her own past incident. That’s just one part of her experience and I think she’s a good enough cop to put it in perspective. I believed Christina’s story as well, but then again Jamie did have a point in that there was little proof either way until he dug deeper.
Finally there was Danny and Baez’s investigation into the murder of the reality TV show chef. I expected more from this story. Elena being the killer was a nice twist but I expected the plot to dive into the reality TV portion of the story a little more and was disappointed when it never went that way.
Despite a lackluster murder of the week, this was still another entertaining hour of Blue Bloods and if you can’t wait for the next Reagan family dinner, you can watch Blue Bloods online now, here at TV Fanatic.
Whoa! I’d heard that a member of the Reagan family would take a bullet on Blue Bloods Season 5 Episode 21 but this was not the way I expected that to play out.
But let’s start at the beginning…
Dennis Haysbert guest starred as Deputy Chief Don Kent and his opening scene with Tom Selleck’s, Frank Reagan just left me wanting more. It’s always a joy to watch two powerhouse actors share the screen. Unfortunately, that one scene was all we’d get.
The barbaric assault that led to the death of Chief Kent and his wife devastated Frank. All season long it's felt like Frank's been teetering on the brink of resigning and there were moments in this episode I thought that he would be pushed over that edge.
Selleck’s performance conveyed just how weary Frank has gotten of what he now views as an unwinnable war with no end in sight.
Frank ordered that this investigation be conducted by the book and Erin was sent to the precinct to hold Danny’s leash. Everyone had a valid point of view in this fight. With the world watching, the case against the shooter would have to be air tight and there would be a magnifying glass on any missteps along the way.
But it must be unendingly frustrating to know someone is guilty but feel as though you aren’t being given the time or the resources to prove it. As Danny said in this Blue Bloods quote…
With all due respect I can't work a homicide in tap shoes.
It all spilled over onto the Reagan family dinner where Henry had to break up a fight between Danny and Erin and Frank had to sincerely ask Danny not to walk out. To his credit, he didn’t because even when the Reagans want to scream at one another, they still act like family.
Eventually Danny and Baez were able to convince Hector to testify but I could hardly blame Hector for balking. If the NYPD couldn’t protect its own Deputy Chief, what chance did Hector and his family have? Apparently not much.
Wrapped around this story was the subplot of Linda’s fellow nurse trying to save her son for the neighborhood gang. She had Linda and the entire Reagan clan looking out for Curtis but he still seemed determined to ignore their pleas.
I had to laugh a bit when Curtis swore to Jamie that he had everything under control and in the next breath begged him for help with the weapons charge. So much for having things under control.
A hit being put out on Hector certainly wasn’t a shock. Having Curtis as the shooter did surprise me but looking back it probably shouldn’t have. His entire story was leading to that moment. The part I never saw coming was that Linda would be the Reagan to take a bullet.
Will Linda survive? Will Danny be able to hold it together and will this be the final straw that has Frank Reagan walking away from the NYPD?
It's sweeps, and we're picking out the best quotes once again.
We have some real funnies from Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Modern Family, The Odd Couple (two weeks running, laughter!), The Simpsons and Bones (yep, even a good murder can bring the gags), and Blue Bloods (what?!) and Battle Creek for a triple B threat.
While things are very serious on Madam Secretary, and continue on Grey's Anatomy where Amelia learns Derek died. They're relatively mild elsewhere, even on Game of Thrones where Margery and Tommen talk about marriage.
My favorite of the week comes from Weird Loners. What's yours?
And what makes a quote enjoyable for you? Is it humor, impact, relevance to the story or being able to understand it across the board, whether you watch the show or not? We'd love to know what makes you tick, so take a moment and share your thoughts with us.

My first thought during Blue Bloods Season 5 Episode 22 was, how was Linda not shot? Especially since Curtis emptied the entire clip into poor Hector with her standing in front of him. All I can say is that it must have been one heck of an adrenaline rush to keep her on her feet that long after taking two bullets to the back.
This was an excellent season finale with well paced drama and action from beginning to end.
The tension in every moment felt real, from Baez yelling, “Move! Get out of the way! It’s a police siren” at other cars as they rushed to the hospital to Danny trying to fake out the hospital staff to get to Linda as she was rushed into surgery.
As a matter of fact, Danny held it together much better than I expected. Despite Erin’s misgivings, he kept focused on the case…but he was still Danny.
I couldn’t really disagree with his assessment when he explained to Curtis why Erin was sitting in the interrogation room in this Blue Bloods quotes…
Assistant District Attorney Erin Reagan. You know why she's here? To keep me from snapping your neck.
Curtis did just shoot his wife so the feeling was definitely justified. It was actually Erin I took more of an issue with. When Danny arrested all of the gang members in the park, she couldn’t get on the phone fast enough to tattle to Daddy. That may be a harsh assessment but that’s how it felt.
I’m not always Danny’s biggest fan but I was relieved when Gormley showed up and defended his actions.
My only disappointment in the episode was how little screen time was devoted to Jamie but he made the most of what he had. He successfully mediated another procedural spat between Danny and Erin by showing them the best way to get the warrant they needed.
In some ways Jamie is the best of the Reagans because he sees both the letter of the law and the reality of the streets.
After spending most of this season in a funk, Frank seemed to get some of his mojo back. First he played hardball with Curtis’ mother by strong arming her into giving up his location after Linda was shot.
Then he used Chief Kent’s love of reading to find inspiration to break the case and he encouraged Danny to take a page from Kent’s book in more ways than one…
He just didn't make good collars, he tied them up in neat little bows. It's time you learned to gift wrap.
Danny took the lesson to heart by using the Warrior Kings enemies to help take them down. Also, his plan to get Curtis to confess by making him think the Kings had beaten his mother was ingenious.
Finally Frank went to the prison to wipe the smirk off of Clinton Wallace’s face and explain how he’d be moved to the Federal court system where, unlike the state of New York, the death penalty would be on the table. Frank also assured him that they would meet again…
But I'll see you again, Mr. Wallace, at the execution chamber at Terre Haute, I'll wave to you through the observation glass.
We never did hear the verdict about Linda’s second bullet. We only know that she’d be doing Sunday dinners via speaker phone for a while. Unfortunately, at this time, CBS has not yet announced whether it will be renewing Blue Bloods for a sixth season. I certainly hope they will.
This has been it’s strongest season yet and I’d love to continue spending my Friday nights (and imaginary Sunday dinners) with the Reagan family.
Check back next week for our Blue Bloods Season 5 report card and if you can’t wait for more, you can always watch Blue Bloods online right here at TV Fanatic.
This week the finales began in earnest and we said goodbye to Kate on Criminal Minds, learned more about Abagail on Forever and said goodbye to Coach on New Girl.
Elsewhere, Jenny gave birth on Outlander and made sure her child came into the world a true Scot, Major made a major mistake on iZombie speaking about that which one should never and Wu harkened back to one of his finest moments on Grimm.
In a fun turn of events, Sheldon tries to make the very difficult decision about whether or not to watch The Flash. Maybe he needs this week's quote to help convince him!
